Terms of Service
The plain-English agreement between you and Unplain. Using the service means you agree to these terms.
Last updated: June 21, 2026
Unplain turns docs and AI drafts into publish-ready PDFs. These terms cover how you can use the service, what you can expect from us, and the limits of our responsibility. We've kept the legal jargon to a minimum.
Acceptance
By creating an account or using Unplain, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. If you're using Unplain on behalf of an organization, you confirm you're authorized to accept these terms for it.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your account secure, including your login credentials. Keep your password confidential and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You're responsible for activity that happens under your account, so please take reasonable care to protect it.
Ownership of your content
You keep ownership of everything you bring to Unplain — the documents you upload, the text you paste, and the projects you create. Unplain does not claim ownership of your content.
You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the service: to store, process, and display your content so we can generate your ebooks, save your projects, and make them available to you. You're responsible for making sure you have the rights to the content you upload.
Acceptable use
When using Unplain, you agree not to:
- Upload or create illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Abuse, harass, or harm others, or use the service to do so.
- Attempt to attack, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the service or its systems.
- Reverse-engineer, resell, or misuse the service in ways these terms don't allow.
We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules.
AI cover generation
Unplain can generate cover images using AI, with help from a third-party AI provider. These images are provided "as is."
Because of how generative AI works, we can't guarantee that a generated image is unique, or that a similar image won't be produced for someone else. You're responsible for how you use generated images, including making sure your use is appropriate for your situation.
Subscriptions & billing
Unplain offers a Free plan and a paid Pro plan. The Free plan includes usage limits (such as a maximum document length for PDF exports, a one-time AI cover allowance, and a cap on saved projects), while Pro unlocks unlimited document length, unlimited PDF exports and saved projects, a monthly allowance of AI cover generations, and the ability to remove Unplain branding. Current details are on our pricing page.
Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. You can cancel at any time; your Pro access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for, after which your account reverts to the Free plan.
The Export Pack, a one-time purchase that added PDF export credits and AI cover credits to your account, is no longer offered. If you bought one, your credits remain valid and never expire: they can be used on the Free plan (for example, an export credit lets a single export exceed the Free plan's document length limit), but they do not remove Unplain branding or unlock Pro features. Because the credits were delivered immediately and are consumable, past Export Pack purchases are final and non-refundable once the credits have been added to your account, except where the law requires otherwise.
Except where the law requires otherwise, or where our current policy says so, payments are non-refundable.
Service availability
We're always improving Unplain, so features may change, be added, or be removed over time. We aim to keep the service running smoothly, but we don't guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
Unplain is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
To the extent permitted by law, Unplain will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Termination
You can stop using Unplain and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, break these terms, or create risk for Unplain or other users.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled by the competent courts of the Czech Republic, unless mandatory law where you live provides otherwise.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know. Continuing to use Unplain after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
