Privacy Policy
Plain English, no surprises. This explains what Unplain collects, why, and the control you have over your data.
Last updated: June 21, 2026
Unplain turns docs and AI drafts into publish-ready PDFs. To do that, we handle some of your information. We keep what we collect to the minimum the service needs, we don't sell it, and we don't claim ownership of anything you upload or create.
Information we collect
We collect the following so the service can work:
- Account information — your name (if you provide one) and the details needed to create and secure your account.
- Email address — used to sign you in, send important service messages, and respond to support requests.
- Uploaded documents — the files you upload or the text you paste in order to generate an ebook.
- Generated projects — the ebooks, covers, layouts, and exports you create and save to your dashboard.
- Payment information — handled by Stripe. We receive limited billing details (such as your plan and payment status); we never see or store your full card number.
- Analytics and usage data — basic information about how the service is used (for example, pages visited and features used), which helps us find problems and improve Unplain.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the service and generate your ebooks and PDFs.
- Save your projects and make them available from your dashboard.
- Process payments and manage your Free or Pro plan.
- Improve Unplain, fix bugs, and understand which features help.
- Communicate important updates, such as security or billing notices.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use the contents of your uploaded documents to train AI models.
AI features
Unplain can generate cover images using AI. To do this, the relevant prompt or input may be processed by a third-party AI provider on our behalf. We share only what's needed to generate your cover.
You keep ownership of your content. Unplain does not claim ownership of the documents you upload or the projects and covers you generate.
File uploads
Files you upload (or text you paste) are used to generate ebooks and provide the service to you — for example, to build the layout, table of contents, and export. They are stored as part of your projects so you can come back to them from your dashboard.
You can delete projects from your account, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see Your rights).
Payments
Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment provider. When you subscribe, your card details are entered with and handled by Stripe.
Unplain does not store your full card information. We receive only the limited billing data we need to manage your subscription, such as your plan and whether a payment succeeded.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
Your rights
You can access and update much of your information directly in the app. You can also contact us to request a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and the data associated with it.
To make a request, email us at info@unplain.io. We'll respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data-protection law.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal data, except where we need to keep certain records to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know.
