Unplain vs Beacon

These two overlap on one job and diverge on everything around it. Beacon is a lead-generation platform: it builds the magnet, hosts it, and captures the leads, with plan limits on how many magnets and leads you get. Unplain is a document tool: it turns your writing into a publish-ready PDF with an automatic cover, contents, pagination and branding, and leaves hosting and capture to whatever you already use.

So the honest framing is not "which is better" but "which layer do you need". If you want the whole funnel in one tool, that is Beacon's argument. If you have the funnel and want better documents coming out of it, that is Unplain's.

Two ways to get content into Unplain

There are two ways into Unplain, and they cost the same. Bring the document yourself, or connect Unplain to Claude Code and Codex and ask your assistant to build the ebook on your account. Either way it lands as a real project you can open and edit, and your plan limits are identical. See how the Unplain MCP works .

Which one fits your work

Choose Unplain if

  • You already have an email platform or landing page tool and only need the document.
  • You publish longer pieces, reports and guides rather than one-page checklists.

  • You are repurposing blog posts and URLs, which Beacon imports directly.
  • You want your magnets and your leads managed in one place.

Frequently asked questions

Is Unplain a Beacon alternative?

For producing the PDF itself, yes. Both make ebook-style lead magnets, and Unplain keeps the layout automatic while you edit the content. But Beacon is a broader lead-generation platform: it also hosts your resources and captures leads. Unplain only makes the document, so if the capture forms are why you use Beacon, Unplain replaces part of it rather than all of it.

Does Unplain handle lead capture or hosting?

No. Unplain produces a publish-ready PDF and stops there. You host and gate it with whatever you already use, an email platform, a landing page builder, or your CMS. That is a real difference from Beacon, which includes capture forms and hosted resource libraries.

Can I edit the content in Unplain?

Yes. Click any heading, paragraph, quote or list item to edit it in place, insert new blocks, add images with captions, and drop in clickable buttons. Unplain keeps control of the page layout and pagination, so edits never leave you re-flowing pages by hand.

Can my AI assistant create the lead magnet for me?

Yes. Connect Unplain to Claude Code or Codex through its MCP server and your assistant can draft the content, apply one of your Brand Themes, and export the PDF on your account. The same plan and limits apply, and you can open the result in the editor afterwards.
